I decided I would like to make a gloss black walking stick. I had prepared some cherry wood and have used one of my stick blanks to make a black cherry part wobble walking stick. I think it looks rather nice with the shiny black lacquer finish. Cherry is a good wood for making walking sticks. Now all I need to do is make a handle that will show off the stylish beauty of this stick shaft!

Making a Walking Stick out of Cherry Wood

I've had to be very careful when cutting this piece of cherry to bring out the lovely grain pattern. Approximately one-third of the length of this stick features the unique 'Dragon Egg' wobble, which shows off the beautiful light golden brown grain perfectly. It will make a stunning designer dress stick when it is finished.     This handmade walking stick will be approximately 35 inches long when finished.
