Making my own new walking stick

Sadly after many years of hard work and faithful companionship my own holly/briar walking stick finally became irreparable.
I have removed the briar thumbstick handle for re-use, and have made myself a snakewood barley twist grip to fit below it.
The shaft will be holly again and will feature a "part wobble" unique to my sticks. I have started the shaft and will post more pictures as it starts to look better. The snake wood is so hard, the twist took nearly five hours of cutting, filing and sanding and although it's not top grade snakewood it's still really pretty.
My own stick has to take a lot of punishment when I'm walking in the woods, or on my forays on the beach, so this one is not only going to look really nice but it will be made to last for many, many years.
